About New Design

Four friends from Ontario, Canada formed emo post-rock band New Design in 2008. The band’s shared interest in the atmosphere and emotion of post-rock and emo brought them together.
Drawing inspiration from American Football, Moneen, Moving Mountains, and Toe, New Design blends the atmosphere and emotion of their genres to create dynamic soundscapes, memorable melodies, and heartfelt lyrics.
Flashes of this sound were first heard in their debut EP “Burn Out The Sky,” but it wasn’t until their first album release Far From Home in 2015 that they established their emotive live sound, the one that has been captivating fans for years. In 2019, they joined independent label Sunday Drive Records with the release of EP “Where I Need To Be” followed by b-sides “What Was Left Unsaid” in 2020.
The band has also toured across Canada and the United States and have opened for notable bands, including Prawn, Foxing, The Reign of Kindo, Tricot, Don Ross, and more.
