This is secretly the oldest song on the album. Joe played the riff years ago when tracking demos with Zack’s dad. He never really took it to the band because it didn’t fit with what we were doing musically at the time, and he didn’t know where to go with it. In his first-year composition class, his final project was a free composition. He used this main riff as my foundation and arranged something for three guitars, bass and drums. This arrangement was very different stylistically and in structure than what it ended up as when I brought it to the band a while after. We mainly wanted to use this song as a transition on an album, being very repetitive with a slight build in overall dynamic and arrangement. The fade in and fade out along with a constant build with no direct resolve give the song that never ending and never truly beginning feel.
